We are taking part in the national Inspiration Railway 200 event which is coming to Southampton Central Station from 14th to the 16th December. A special train that takes you on a journey of discovery exploring 200 years of railway innovation. We will be in the final carriage on the 16th December.

Why are we involved? The railway was a key element as to why the brickworks were built in Swanwick. Once the Southampton to Portsmouth line was completed bricks could be taken to market on the railway – much easier than using the waterways. In the photo above you can see the special siding that was built and the stacks of bricks waiting to be loaded onto wagons.
